Water availability For safety reasons, it's advisable to carry your own water supply. Accommodation Stay at Trivandrum or Nedumangad. Also, the base camp at Athirumala, has tents for the accommodation after 1stday's trek. Food availability Food is available in Trivandrum while going to the Wildlife warden for the entry passes. It's advisable to carry own refreshments. However, in Athirumala, food is available for the night trekkers. Trek Routes The Agastyarkoodam trek starts from Bonacaud which can be located around 65 kms from Trivandrum. Camping the night at Bonacaud can be a good option or the trekkers could catch the morning bus from Nedumangaud Bus Station. A nearly 30 mins walk from Bonacaud tea estate brings you to the Forest Office and check-post, which is the main entry to the Agastyarkoodam peak. Hidden liquor bottles and sharp instruments like knife and scissors will be checked for due to the trekking norms up this peak. Destination for the day will be Athirmala, which is also the base camp for the night. The trekkers thus cross Attayar on the way to Athirumala. The pristine picturesque of the nature is to be enjoyed at its scenic best. The camera should be clicking all through the journey, not to forget, the beautiful vistas on the way. Day-1 precisely comes to an end upon reaching Athirumala. Day-2 commences early enough to allowing the sun streaks to follow you. If you leave by 6 AM, you can climb to the main peak, offer the 'puja' and pay your 'darshan' to the sage and return back to Athirumala by 11 AM. Finally, trek back to Bonacaud.
